Hollywoodlands Young Moviemakers Gala March 20th Mark your calendars! On March 20th, Hollywood meets The Woodlands for the big screen debut of Finalist movies in the first annual Woodlands Young Moviemakers (WYM) competition. Students from all age groups submitted films, and a memorable evening of glitz and glamour will showcase the talent of area young people. A limited number of seats will be available to the General Public and are now on sale on a “first come” basis. They can be purchased for $10 each by emailing Lorie Kapila at: bofb@houston.rr.com. WYM is a non-profit organization.
The red carpet, dress-up affair — “The HollyWoodlands Awards Gala” — will feature some special touches. The American Film Institute has made available their 100 Years of Cinema film archive for the ceremony, which will be produced by a successful young filmmaker from The Woodlands, Scott Ellison. A professional actor, and very funny guy — Brian Thornton (Spykids, The Bracelet of Bordeaux)– will be the emcee. Borders will host a wonderful pre-event party at their new bookstore on Market Street at 5:00 P.M., and numerous filmmakers, screenwriters and actors will attend. Plus, members of the cast and crew of the upcoming feature film to be shot in our area, The Bracelet of Bordeaux, will be on hand, and you can meet Director Casey Kelly. The big screen premier of Bracelet’s trailer will be featured at the Hollywoodlands Gala.
